it looks too much like death? ... i thought that was the general concept of the boatman, like in greek myths it was charon who boated the dead across the river styx..?

HMM, this is a very good drawing of him, but i imagined him as just an old OLD really old man! But i really like it its spooky and interesting! : )

yeah i guess i did my own thing wi adding the mask onto him, sorta made him .. bit more unhuman . i dno :p xx

YES! I love the mask. Good call, John. By golly, if he doesn't wear a mask in the film adaptation, I will think back to this drawing and think, "What a wasted opportunity!"
