2 DVDs about His Dark Materials

Postby TheRealNeo » Sat Aug 16, 2008 1:31 pm

Because they are not related to the movie I post it here:

http://www.amazon.com/Beyond-Golden-Com ... 141&sr=1-5

http://www.amazon.com/Secrets-Golden-Co ... 141&sr=1-6

Does anybody know these 2 DVDs and can say something about that if they're worth buying?

Thanks already.

Hi,
So I do not own any of those DVDs but some extracts are available online.
For the first one, you can find some pieces of video here:
http://video.yahoo.com/watch/1612280/5438117
and here:
http://www.cittagazze.com/news.php?id=426
Only the second embeded video is still ok, but I was never able to find the original link.

I know there was a lot of problems with the first DVD which was released very close to the movie (nov 20, 2007).
New Line got angry, they tried to avoid its release (if I do well remember) but I suppose they did not succeed !!

Since over 10 years, The Book of Dust will be published in 2 years.

I think it was the Beyond the Golden Compass one that was doing the rounds (am i right people?). If it was, then it might have had something interesting to say, but we stopped watching after about 30 minutes (I would have stopped after 5 if I wasn't alone) because it was incredibly dull. Certainly not worth buying. Didn't one of the DVDs get put on online somewhere for free?

I bought Beyond the Golden Compass. It did have some interesting moments but for the hardcore fan it contains nothing groundbreaking that we havn't already come across.

Is inside HDM the one with the weird graphics? With Lord Asriel inexplicably wearing a sombrero?
