Great book: thought I'd join!

Postby Iofur » Mon Mar 28, 2011 7:31 pm

Hey there!
I don't know what to say, and I was sent here by an indignant member as I commented somewhere else first, so see you around!

Oh whatever, that's not relevant here.

They weren't indignant! It's just nice for you to have your own thread in the Newbie Forum, that way we can find out a little bit about you. Do feel free to look around and respond to threads!

You could answer such questions as: Where are you from? How old are you? What did you do? When did you read HDM? How did you find us?

Sorry about the "indignant" part, I tend to overreact sometimes.
I got the book from my sister a while ago, loved it and immediately searched for pages on the internet about it.

Not indignant, I promise! I just am always curious to get to know newbies, and this is the best place for that. :) (I like new people!)

I think I originally got the books from a sibling too. I seem to recall my brother telling me to read the first book, but I didn't want to read it because our reading tastes weren't that similar. I think it was a few more years until I finally read it! I'm glad you read it and immediately loved it!

What part of the non-internet world are you from? What do you like besides these books?

I live in Berlin, but was born in London and lived there for 7 years. I generally think english/american authors make much better books than germans(only my opinion), and I like mostly fantasy books. Somehow, the countless books about children being discriminated and mobbed that we get in germany aren't as appealing.

Welcome to the Republic. It's of note that you use a quote from William Blake, who had an enormous influence on Philip Pullman.

Thanks, at first I thought of a quote from pullman himself, but then I remembered reading something about Blake having influenced Pullman or something like that somewhere.
