Here is a quote from LO
pg 23 in paperback edition
"But she was wearing dark clothes and she could run fast, and she and Pan, with their witchlike power of separation, had managed to mislead pursuers before now.
This either means that someone has been after them for some reason that may lead on into the next book, or just a pure coincidence.

Maybe. Maybe she's just up to the kind of mischief that spirited 14-15 year-old girls get up to.

What do you make of the cruise brochure for the SS Zenobia? There's an excursion offered to Palmyra en route, and funnily enough, Palmyra is mentioned, too, in the excerpt from Baedeker's guide to Oxford, and strangely enough that is connected to a Queen Zenobia. Coincidence? Maybe. I don't know. But remember Mr Makepeace's message: 'Everything has a meaning, if only we could read it.' And what happens on the cruise between Famagusta and Latakia? (Hint: the ship leaves Famagusta on Wednesday evening and arrives in Latakia on Friday morning. What date is it on Thursday?) Funnily enough, Latakia is presumably the jumping-off point for the excursion to Palmyra. Is that an accident? You might need a phrase-book for the Levant, too. And a map - the Levant and the Ottoman Empire should fit the bill.

There's plenty for you to think about there.

this is all in the extra stuff right? haven't got a chance to read it all.

also, the witch blames Lyra for her son's death, who knows how many people blame her for their loved one's death?

Please don't double post. I've corrected it this time but go and read the Forum Guide before you post any more.

Any one else wonder about the fact that sextants are mentioned twice on the same page? It was the list of book and outfitter's catalog page. Also, Beaumont Street, the street on which the outfitters are is missing from the map. That really doesn't seem to hold too much importance though.
