Scotland will win, you just know it. They'll find a way!!

Nah, somebody would start one everyday if we didnt already have one, and its a big enough deal that it can have its own thread.

*sigh* I so wanted a refuge from all that.

Still, there's this to say for it:

One of the goals of the tournament from Lahm, I believe hes set the bar in terms of top goals.

I have a couple of betting tips from my ex physics teacher (who won rather a lot after betting £10 on Greece to win Euro 2004 at 200-1):

He says that Brazil won't get out of their group.
He also says Zlatan Ibrahimovic will win the golden boot.

I say Brazil will win...

..and Frings has raised it. I played with one of the premiership balls recently and theyre absurdly light, even I could curl it with ease, and these world cup ones are supposed to be even better/worse.

Conclusions from the first game:

Germany are useless at the back, Wanchope made a joke of them, Messi, Rooney or Ronaldo will murder them. Costa rica might be England's second round opponents, depends how good Poland are really.

An enjoyable opening match. Lots of goals at least.

It was good in 2002, to see France lose, but it was a fairly dull game.

The balls are *iffy* but, if they produce more goals, I see that as a good thing.

I can't see a problem from any of group A to be honest. Glad Ecuador beat Poland. I think I want them to win the cup after Togo.

Everyone's just waiting for Holland Argentina in the group stages. :P

Suppose if you want more 40yard stunners it's a good thing, but like was said in analysis, Lahm's goal bent in two different directions twice before going in. Shoot on sight, is what Sven better be telling Gerrard, Lampard, Cole etc.

First we'll have to find a way of fielding a side which doesn't get trounced by a bunch of puffins or somewhere else which no-one has ever heard of.

If we had a half decent manager we'd win this world cup, with that ~*fool*~ running the show I think we're doomed unless Rooney gets fit, cause he'd be able to win in a team managed by Graham Taylor.

Im glad our defence is so strong (couple of ~*winky*~ ups by terry but Rio was ace) they had all of one decent chance. Also Beckham is looking class, which makes a nice change in a major tournament.

We'll go out in either the quarters or semis thanks to Sven's sheer uselessness, I imagine so anyway. Still, we won our first match for once, woo!

edit: Oh and the ref was shockingly bad, hope we dont get him again.

I suspect that's more likely to mean that several of his judgements went against England, which isn't necessarily the same thing.
