General elections, anywhere

Postby jessia » Sat Oct 08, 2011 12:13 am

my province had a general election yesterday and less than half of all eligible voters turned out... it was the lowest voter turnout in our entire history. :(

do your jurisdictions have these problems too?
"o stars, isn't it from you that the lover's desire for the face
of his beloved arises? doesn't his secret insight
into her pure features come from the pure constellations?"
- from rainer maria rilke's third elegy

In the United States we have the opposite problem. Too many people vote who probably shouldn't, and they cast their votes for people who probably shouldn't run. Thank God everybody doesn't vote, or we'd have Lady Gaga in the White House.
A man said to the universe:
"Sir, I exist!"
"However," replied the universe,
"The fact has not created in me
A sense of obligation."
