bought myself a purple wrap dress and a pair of jeans, and my mommy bought me three blouses, a cardigan, and a pair of leggings. :D

:?:

Mixed emotions, but I just had to purchase a new cell phone. I forgot mine was in my front pocket when we rode the 4wheeler this afternoon... it fell out and is forever lost in the 3 feet of sugar sand in Oak Hill... bah... kind of happy because I hated the Samsung Impression, but also sad because all my contacts and pictures are gone...
When I die, I want to go peacefully like my Grandfather did, in his sleep -- not screaming, like the passengers in his car...

Everyone has photographic memory; some just don't have the film...

I bought The Golden Compass on Kindle...

I couldn't help myself.

Really.

Nathan and I finally got over to our local Borders store to take advantage of their clearance sales. We bought a few books (incuding a Dr Horrible comic and the Girl Genius novel), wished our new condo had high enough ceilings that we could justify buying some of their extra-tall bookshelves and a ladder, and actually did justify getting two tall chairs from their cafe to go at the bar sort of thing in our new kitchen. We'll probably go back for some bookshelves later.

I want more of my home furnishings to come from bookstores, but I don't want any more of them to have to close.
Hey baby, what's your callsign?

Pre-Europe shopping! Woo! I got black shorts, adorable white flats, and a black jacket/blazer (I've needed one for ages).

Image
Shorts! Can't really see them well, though. Also, that's the shirt I said was the same as Emma Watson's. The lines on mine aren't nearly that dark IRL, it's just the ~*pineapples*~ image quality. In person, it looks exactly the same as Emma's, but with buttons on the side of the arm.

Blazer/jacket. :)

And the adorable white shoes.

Ron thought I was looking at pictures of Olivia Wilde.

You look gorgeous, Ali! <3 I super love the shorts. :)

I bought this cleanser and this face mask from Lush. I don't really have the money to spend on this kind of stuff, but I've been wanting to buy something that is ridiculously over-the-top and indulgent for a while now, and today seemed as good a day as any to do so.

I didn't buy it - it was a gift - but it has infinite retro-geek value, so:

a sweater, two camisoles, a dressy top and a short-sleeved shrug - all to take up my work wardrobe a notch so they miss me when i leave. (and, ye know, so i have some nice things to wear.) business casual doesn't mean casual, apparently.

I feel very guilty having spent an inordinate amount on this today, so everyone please tell me it's adorable.

<3 boxing day/week shopping (sorry retail-working sraffies): camel coloured hat, pictured below.

on boxing day itself, i got a couple pairs of office-appropriate trousers as well as an office-appropriate tunic/dress. i was very pleased, it was the most successful purpose-specific shopping i've done in years.

PS: i don't know whether boxing day retains any of its original meaning in any of the commonwealth countries, but it's always meant shopping for me. :P ironically, like labour day (in north america), the workers that were originally meant to benefit from the statutory holiday are now the ones that have to work some of the the worst retail/service days in the year.
