In praise of tea.

I know, slightly random thread, but I'm absolutely gasping for a cup and won't get one till I leave the library at 3.

I used to be an Earl Grey girl (no milk, obviously, just a slice of lemon when i could find one) but lately I've taken to English Breakfast with milk and a spoonful of honey... yom.

Tea preferences people? Or coffee, if you must...

In the afternoon - Darjeeling, the champagne of teas.

Milk, no sugar.

Hmmm I liked the lemon-tea my friend made for me muchly, and this other fruity stuff I used to have every week after Ikedo. I'm not a big tea drinker - I prefer to keep my caffiene levels near rock bottom. As far as I be concerned the God of all drinks iiis.... water.

Nooo! You lose all the subtelty if you add sugar. Just a dash of milk will do.

And I have to admit I usually end up drinking Typhoo (which isn't actually all that bad) because it's the everyday tea that mother buys. But I enjoy a bit of Earl Grey or Assam when I can be bothered (ie when someone else makes it for me).

I have absolutely nowt against milk and sugar, but it has to be both. Otherwise it becomes like gangliopulmonary tuberculosis without the lymphadenopathies.

Just now I'm quaffing a pot of Earl Grey (looseleaf), flavoured with cinnamon.

If I ever use teabags (such as in the staff canteen), it has to be sans lait. Same goes for green tea.

earl grey with milk and honey - the only reason i even add the milk is for the taste. but honey's supposed to be good for a sore throat (also it's better than sugar) so that's why tea and honey are the best cure for a cold. also tea is magic because it makes one feel better. all the time. unless one is allergic, in which case there can be complications.

Two parts Assam, one part Lapsang Souchong. No milk, no sugar, no lemon. Oh, and proper leaves in a teapot, none of this teabag-in-a-mug nonsense!

I really only like herbal or fruity teas with honey...like peppermint, or cinnamon orange.

I like coffee better. It's just soo....nice and creamy! Mmmmmmm. :D

That's not *real* tea. That's *infusion*.

When I went to Germany, they were shocked that we don't drink fruity tea. They had thought they were being frightfully English, but really they were being mislead by local manufacturers.

No, sorry, I just think: Why drink tea when I could have coffee?* Which has to be black, no sugar, and strong.

*I have only ever drank tea made with tea bags - namely Liptons - so this outlook is quite possibly best imputed to deficit of experience.

I merit both tea and coffee, because they suit different occasions. Sometimes I feel like one, sometimes the other.
