And I found the same picture taken several months ago...

Three pics from Germany.

The Mercedes Benz Museum and the station near it.

So if the u-bahn trains have sliding doors, why the warning sign?

Was this in Stuttgart, BTW?

I'm not sure what the warning was meant to be. Yes, it was in Stuttgart.

It certainly looks like it's warning you not to stand so close to the platform edge that you'll be hit by an open door of the old-fashioned slam-door variety.

I've taken the u-bahn from Ostfildern into the centre of Stuttgart.

Spiffy pictures of the Benz museum.
I'm guessing the warning sign is just to emphasize that standing near the edge is a hazard? Although I have very little experience with locomotives and I've always forgotten the know-how if I haven't been to a foreign country in a while.

There used to be warning posters on our south-east commuter lines warning passengers not to open the doors until the train had stopped. Over a graphic illustration of someone being struck by a train door was the message - "A Moment's Impatience - A Lifetime Of Remorse."

Platforms next to high-speed lines have yellow lines painted about half a metre from the edge. A bit near, if you ask me.

Maybe the sign warns not to get appendages stuck in the sliding doors? That's what it looks like to me.

Two not very colourful pies...

The first is a brown sugar apple pie I made for my best friend's 21st birthday last month (hence the candles)
Image

The second is the butterscotch custard with toasted pecan topping I made last weekend. (This was probably one of my favourite pies to date.)
Before the custard set down:

After slicing it open (the lighter part is the custard, and then you can see the crunchy pecan layer on top):

Pecan pie is one of my favourite foods, let alone pies.

Mmmm, pie. And that is a pretty kitty, Peter.

Here is the prettiest pic, we had a blizzard hit unexpectantly about 2 weeks ago, and the first pic is out my window, I grabbed the phone and snapped a picture, wuddn't believed it myself without the photographic evidence, but everything outside was washed in a pink kind of glow, this was just as the sun was comin up the next day. Then, when I had realised that the little Alltell window showed in the window's glass (in the first pic) and I covered it with my hand, I took another pic but the pinkish glow had already passed, and the sun was comin up as usual.

Image

here is the pic taken about 6 seconds later...(the way it usually looks out the window)

Leif, I love your photos. As for monuments, I never look at my photos of the Eiffel Tower, Brandenburg Gate etc. I look at the ones I won't see anywhere else :)

Some shameless self-promotion - a few of my favourites (click to enlarge):
