Terry Wogan

Postby Townie » Mon Mar 06, 2006 12:38 pm

Just happened to be listening to Terry this morning (just for our non-UK based sraffies, Terry Wogan is a popular breakfast time DJ) and he read out an email from someone claiming to be from Svalbard University. "SVALBARD?!" says Terry, aghast. "You haven't bumped into any armoured polar bears?"

Made me chuckle anyway.

You can probably find it on them there new-fangled 'listen again' gizmos. It was on between 9.10 and 9.15 this morning.

Unfortunately, I live in the US. Sounds like something I'd like to hear.

Truly, the US is a poorer place for the lack of Terry Wogan (no Eurovision, either. And no increasingly-drunk TW commentaries on latter).

Our Terry is paid £800,000 a year, or £25.64 a minute for when he is on air. Anybody actually listen to the breakfast show regularly, and do you think it's worth it?

No, course he's not worth it.

However, I always listen to Terry in the mornings. His show starts when I start work and it's usually nice and quiet at that time of the mornings and I've become a real fan. He and John Marsh just sit and talk absolute drivel (one thing I'm good at) and 8 million people are tuning in
The Janet & John stories are the best - very risque for that time of the morning!
It's easily the best thing on Radio along side Wossy's Saturday morning slot and Mike Harding's folk hour (and Lamaar's Shake Rattle 'n' Roll)

I laugh as Terry takes the **** out of EastEnders...

I do like Terry Wogan, actually. His show is quite entertaining (my mum tends to listen to it in the mornings in the car). I don't think anyone's worth that amount of money though.

Never heard Terry Wogan, Im having trouble with the internet so i cant go onto Enitharmon's link. Of course if your in Ireland Mooney goes wild is worth a listen in. And if your here at the end of the month Joe Duffy (who is normally crap) does a very entertaing afternoon show, whre listeners call up and sing homemade songs about current affairs :D
