Xaphania - The commander of Lord Asriel's angels, Xaphania was one of the angels who originally rebelled (perhaps even the leader of the original rebellion, although this is never concerned). Now, she believes they have a chance with Lord Asriel. Xaphania is one of the highest ranking angels, and is much stronger than Baruch and Balthamos. She is described here: "Her appearance impressed Mrs. Coulter, just as her fellows had impressed the witch Ruta Skadi when she found them in the sky: she was not shining, but shone on, though there was no source of light. She was tall, naked, winged, and her lined face was older than that of any living creature Mrs. Coulter had ever seen."
