Filming for the movie first took place at the Old Royal Naval College with parts doubling for Jordan College Dining Room. The majority of that week's filming was for the scene in which the Master asks Lyra if she really wants to go with Mrs Coulter. Two hundred students in full regalia, several servants and fellows made up the scene, together with Mrs Coulter, Lyra, the Master and various birds and beasties, with the golden monkey also in attendence.

Further filming was on a nearby river, with Lyra running towards the river wall, down the steps, onto a pontoon and then getting into a barge. (full details) Much thanks to Jonathan for taking all of these photographs.
