Many new photos of Nicole Kidman as Mrs. Coulter on the set of The Golden Compass appeared today on the internet, this time with Kidman in a different costume – described by People Magazine as “all-business” for those of you who weren't too pleased with the first costume we saw. View the photos. The fellow all in black and with the gold chain around his neck appears to be the actor playing Fra Pavel, whilst Chris Weiz can be seen giving directions in some others.

I think she looks fantastic and she will be great in the role, For all the naysayers about to post and complain about hair color and all the other meaningless nits, you must remember, Nicole is a great actress, at least IMO. She is going to be awesome.

I think that the audiobook influenced my image of the characters more than anything else, and this picture fits in nicely.

I can't understand why you people care more about her outfits than her hair!! I mean a short haired blonde Mrs. Coulter is like a red head Harry Potter!!! Or even better, a long haired, brunette Lyra!! I think that Nicole's face looks perfect, but COME ON HAIR DEPARTMENT!! BRING OUT THE HAIR DYE!!
I think she looks beautiful! I love the color and the fur trim. I wonder when we'll be getting some pictures of Craige as Asriel or even Dakota! Now that will be exciting. 🙂

Just by looking at her face it looks like she captured Mrs. Coulter. I knew she had it in her though.
She looks awesome! I think she'll do fine. Anyways- I don't mind the hair (it's not too bad). I don't know about you, but I prefer a good actor to a perfect look-a-like (take into example the HP movies).
And in People mag no less. That's brilliany, she looks absolutely gorgeous and icily Coulter.

I think nicole kidman is really great as mrs coulter, first i didn´t think so, but now i absolutely do. she looks great, her outfits are perfect and she is a great actress.
But i´m really disappointed because of the hair. mrs coulter is my favourit character and i think it´s really important for her to have black hair! its important as she is a cruel character first and now with the blond hair it destroys my picture of mrs coulter.
Man, thank goodness, Nicole looks so much better in that deep maroon suit, than she ever did in that pale camel one, I think! :wassat: 😉

I like Coulter's hair blonde – to me it says 'ice'. I've always imagined it blonde, even though the books say differently. And to whoever pointed out the HP films – exactly! Dan Radcliffe may look like Harry, but boy can he NOT act. Thank goodness we have a good actor like Nicole, even if she is blonde, than a bad actress who was a brunette.

If it *is* Fra Pavel… Why is he in this movie, anyway? He's not in TGC at all, unless I'm mistaken.
He's an unimportant character, isn't he? The Church just needs someone to read the alethiometer so they can get information. Why are we seeing pictures of him?
Way back when Tom Stoppard was still writing the script, he mentioned bringing forward certain characters in order to give more identifyable villains already on. That means Hugh McPhail and Fra Pavel's lot; in the trilogy they only appear in the last book – it makes more sense to bring them forward so they're present from the first film.

It's difficult to imagine a daemon in this shot no?? I wonder how they will introduce the daemons, also in the pictures don't seem that the caracthers hava daemons….very intriguing….
Which "shot"? I see pictures, but not a shot in the sense of a shot from a film. The actual shots from the film will be better staged. I hope..

Wow…Nicole Kidman sure looks tall in that suit – but I wish it was a tad bit more flattering. I think the jacket style elongates her torso a bit much but I am LOVING the boots! I think she'll make a fantastic Mrs. Coulter!
Even though Mrs. Coulter is supposed to have dark hair, I like the blonde. Nicole has that ice cold look down and the brilliant blonde hair just accentuates the look. I'm glad they didn't try to dye her hair or put it in a wig. It would have dullened Nicole, and in these photos she's striking to look at (which, we can all agree, Mrs. Coulter should be).
Although I couldn't care less about the colour of Mrs. Coulter's hair, I find it odd that Nicole Kidman hasn't died it black. Her hair has been died various colours (including black) for her previous films…

Is it just me or is she pregnant? There is definitly a tell-tale bump around her middle, and in the first shots (white dress) she was looking a bit more plump than I remembered. I'm hoping not, since who knows how it'll mess up with filming, but good news to her if she is!
