With Lyra being played by a 13, 16 and a 18 year old and Mrs Coulter and Lord Asriel both being played by 18 year olds is going to make interesting stage dynamics.

I think it could be confusing to have Lyra and both her parents appearing the same age. It does sound good though

I’m working on this production, and just thought I’d reply to the comment about Lyra being played by someone the same age as Mrs Coulter and Lord Asriel and it being confusing (I hope that made sense.)

It isn’t as confusing as you’d expect. Bethany/Lyra 3 (18) plays Lyra as a 12/13 year old really well. There is a clear difference between her then and in the present in the botanic gardens. The same goes for the two characters playing Will.

That actor for Will looks just as i’d pictured him in the books. Wish i could see the show

I saw this yesterday and it is a very impressive production.

With young actors ranging from 9 to 18 you might think there could be some concerns about the apparent age of the adult characters but they are all very well played and exude enough ‘grownup-ness’ to take away such worries.

The demons worked really well and in fact the whole stage production was excellent. I had some concerns about a few of the younger actors being a little too enthusiastic but overall absolutely worth seeing.
