Monica Edinger reveals in her blog educating alice more inconsistencies between the cinematic release of The Golden Compass and the merchandise which accompanied it. Like the video game, the official movie quiz book includes content (i.e. plot details) from the last three chapters of the story, or the final section of the film displaced just before release. This indicates how last minute these edits and changes were, considering how accompanying materials were already well into production. Questions include, “What does Asriel do to Roger’s daemon?” Read more.

Following on from the previous movie tie-in books we revealed a while ago; we’ve a snap of another as-yet unannounced publication - a calendar. It’s no great surprise one’s coming, but here’s a shot of the calendar’s cover - out in December and ready for the new year. Thanks again to Chris.
Update: Scholastic have contacted us to correct the calendar cover shown here. It will be looking something more like the (updated) image below. You can view the original here.

Several books tied-in with the upcoming movie of The Golden Compass are set to be released alongside the film and we’ve obtained images of their covers for the first time. On the film side of things, there’s a “Movie Storybook”, “The Official Illustrated Movie Companion”, plus “The World of The Golden Compass”. The fourth cover, of the golden monkey, may be the ‘movie edition’ of the book itself which is expected. These are not the finished covers and are more along the lines of design plans.
The covers are all below: click the thumbs to enlarge. “Images of the covers of the HIS DARK MATERIALS books published by Scholastic Children’s Books are reproduced with permission of the publishers. All Rights Reserved”
