New York specialty toy retailer FAO Schwarz are producing a range of items for The Golden Compass movie. Here’s what they have to say on the line-up, with images below:
“We worked closely with New Line Cinemas to recreate the daemon characters as well as Iorek the Ice Bear in fine plush. These special renderings are available only through FAO Schwarz.
We’re also thrilled to present the artistry of our friend, Robert Tonner, in his creation of figures inspired by the film. Robert has applied his considerable skills to creating special facial sculpts for Mrs. Coulter, Lord Asriel, and Lyra, as portrayed by the actors. Just as the actors breathe life into the characters on screen, so too does Robert Tonner in these beautiful creations that capture their unique personalities.”
kidman and richards look a little bobblehead-y but the armoured bear toys (in general, not just these particular toys) seem to make much more impressive toys than anything else.
It’s just a shame that FAO Scwartz won’t ship outside the US (it just creates another opportunity for fans to ripped off by having to buy them from ebay!)
Huh, I agree that the Lyra doll looks absolutely nothing like Dakota, but still, these figures look really nice. They’re well done, and I would have totally played with something like that when I was a little kid.
This is slightly frightening… As a little kid I would’ve loved ‘em to bits, but now it just seems like merchandise overkill. Mrs. Coulter looks like Barbie, which particularly scares me. I must admit I’ll be buying an Iorek plushie though.
Ah, I found it. A bit pricy, yeah. And it is Pan… long legs for a ferret but ok.
Note: Hansa makes a beautiful plush ermine that reminds me of Pan in his favorite form.
