Y cant someone just tell us??????

worst previews is reporting that 450 ppl are losing there jobs at new line except those ppl who are part of major franchises.. They only mention LOTR.

If Warner Bro’s decides not to continue I think Mrs. Forte said there was a possibility the rights could go into a “turnaround” and then another company could purchase it and finish the trilogy. I still have high hopes that it will get made one way or another!

YAY! Ok, this is probably the best news so far. Either they don’t ruin the next two books or they hand it over to a better company. All I’m waiting for is a remake of “The Golden Compass” this time hopefully GOOD and titled “Northern Lights” haha.

I’m really sad if that’s the case although the longer it’s gone on with no news the more I’ve suspected it - young girls don’t stay that way for long!

If it’d been totally rubbish then it wouldn’t have mattered but the casting, the special effects, sets, costumes were all great, it was just the rushed plotting and wooden script and of course the messy ending that were the problems, which have a massive effect on Golden Compass but would have been the easiest things to rectify for another film. I was really looking forward to seeing the subtle knife on film, they could have made a better film, really learnt from their mistakes. It’s all very well saying some other company could buy up the rights and remake it but it’s a controversial trilogy and people’s hands have already been burnt. how many times does something that’s not met blockbuster expectations (and America is the market they take notice of, whatever happended elsewhere) get remade? Hulk is being remade but that’s a comparatively simple story and not even vaguely controversial. Oh well, still got the books….

Yes, but do remember that the next book isn’t set in Lyra’s world so there is no need for the props for that world anymore.

I just want an answer one way or the other so I can know whether we’ll see the ending in another movie or on a DVD–because if those DVDs don’t freaking have it, and they don’t make the sequel, I’ll be really, really pissed….>:(

He is the 7th most collectable auther in the world, how much more evidence do warner brother film company need to make the sequel films, they would be mad not too. The second/third films will be a huge success because people are waiting to see what happens to Lyra and Roger in relation to the books. Come on warner get on with it!!!

Dear Lord this waiting is driving me crazy! They ought to just say whether they’re making TSK or not. Like ripping off a band-aid… If they say no it’ll hurt, but at least we’ll know and it’ll be over with! And if they say yes then great, they’ve got my support. What could they lose by just telling us what they’re doing?

Now honestly how many of the Harry Potter sets have survived without having to be rebuilt?
Warner could be missing out big time in not making TSK and shouldn’t it cost a lot less anyway being that most scenes are actually set in our world or in places that are very similar to places in our own.
I think most HDM fans will go to see sequels no matter what.
by the way I dont think there’s any need for a remake and if your meaning to do it soon it just wouldn’t work people don’t want to go see something again that they’ve already seen recently.

I think Bridgetothestars.net should put together some kind of a petition and then get the signatures of THOUSANDS of HDM fans who want to see the other two movies get made and send it to Warner Brothers and see what happens.

I’ve just bought the Blu-Ray DVD of the Golden Compass and it is exactly the same as it was in the cinema. No change. The trailers are also the same, ie they include what should have happened in the final cut of the film.

This film was well acted with very good special effects, but the director and editing team were awful and have ruined what is basically a superb story..Shame on Chris Weiz and his rubbish editing team.

I don’t think they should make the sequel, because the poor direction of the Golden Compass has made it pointless in making the 2nd and 3rd films.

Leave the excellent books well alone and put the proper ending back in The Golden Compass and release the special edition, then consider making the Subtle Knife and Amber Spy Glass, I think for Dakota though it is too late to play Lyra again. Shame really, she is great actress in what could have been a great trilogy, if only Warner Bros. had it from day one ( the best family film makers in the world).

While this seems bleak, I’d just like to say that it was “officially” announced after Lion, Witch and the Wardrobe there would be no sequel, and there is one coming out this year, so it may take time, and it may be a compromise, but I still think there is hope. Further, in a few years, perhaps a new director, screenwriter and cast may give this a second try. Perhaps a different medium, such as CGI, is the answer.

NEW YORK — Following the film’s blockbuster opening weekend, Marvel Entertainment is planning an “Iron Man” sequel for 2010 after a 2009 without feature releases.

In its earnings report Monday morning, the company unveiled its film release plans for the next three years. They are designed “to focus its attention on maximizing the success of an ‘Iron Man’ sequel and the launch of ‘Thor’ in the summer of 2010,” it said.

In the special features of The Golden Compass Blu-ray dvd, Chris Weiz said “Fans of the people are disappointed that i did not put some films scenes in the correct place, the reason is that i wanted the final battle at the end of the film (Bolvanger experiement centre) and not have Lyra kidnapped to be taken there, so i had her taken to the Ice Bears instead and also i wanted to leave out the scenes with roger, lyra, asriel and mrs coulter to the second film”. to me that is just an excuse that he screwed up the entire adaption of the books and just did not care to get the story right, just so it would not upset the children who watch it. Forget the Subtle Knife, remake the Golden Compass or re-release the movie as it is suppose to be. Chris Weiz is an awful writer and director and should never be allowed near a camera or script again.
