Second Golden Compass TV Spot

Filed under: The Golden Compass movie, Trailers — Will @ 5:05 am
Here’s the second of what appears to be several trailers for The Golden Compass running on US television at the moment. This again features several brief glimpses of previously unseen scenes, all the while accompanied by a rather more uptempo piece of music than has been the case thus far. View it below.

I actually really like this spot. Even with the 300 inspired music. I just have to say though, that wolf Daemon at the end there got PWNED!

I love all the new scenes as well.

wow… crazy rock solo there. sounds like weitz was trying to beat his high score on Guitar Hero while they were dubbing this, lol. Good new footage of Asriel though and definitely catchy…

Goodness, Iorek and the armored bears are freaking all OVER the place. If the next two are actually made, I’ll be curious to see how they go about marketing them, since the panserbjorne aren’t really as prominent an element in TSK and TAS as they are in TGC.

…Don’t get me wrong, though; I love me some panserbjorne.

….rock music? o_-

Bad choice of trailer music….. Anyway, it was prety awesome otherwise. I loved that scene of Iorek smacking the wolf out of mid-air.

I like the song. Someone knows which band it resembles?
When I first watched the first 5 secs, I thought it was Coldplay (I thought weirdly: “Rumours are true after all”.
It doesn´t seem so, though.

Energy says:

Luis – it sounds very similar to the music used in the 300 trailers, which was Nine Inch Nails – Just Like You Imagined. Not too sure what band is used for this trailer tho.

This trailer is aimed more at the late teen market. Not sure it works. Like the glimpse of the spyfly battle :)

I don’t particularly like this one. I think it was the music. It just doesn’t go with the movie!

Ashe says:

When a movie has such a broad appeal as this one does, the TV spots are usually used to target certain demographics to get them interested in the film (because you can have so many of them). With trailers you usually go for the broadest audience possible and with spots you can be more specific. This particular spot was obviously aimed at the male and probably teen crowd, hence the rock music. :P

Corsair of Umbar says:

I agree with Ashe (nice name, btw). The music took me out of the HDM world. But I can understand that the studio wants to appeal to as many folks as possible. I would think that they are going for a certain kind of teenager, especially boys, who may have thought TGC was another Narnia “sweet kiddy movie.”

This trailer is trying to say it is the anti Narnia.

would anyone, by chance, know what the name of the track/artist is for this particular trailer? I know its not “just like you imagined” from NIN and I don’t think Muse had anything to do with it either, Tyler Bates was behind the entire 300 OST to my knowledge. Any help would be appreciated.
