His Dark Materials

His Dark Materials is a masterpiece of a trilogy by Philip Pullman, loosely based upon Paradise Lost.

The first book is called the Golden Compass in North America or Northern Lights in the British Isles. The second installation is The Subtle Knife and the last is The Amber Spyglass. Two companion books have been published, the first of which is titled Lyra's Oxford a.k.a. the "little red book", which includes extra fan resources and a short story on Lyra three years after the events of the trilogy. The second companion, Once Upon a Time in the North is a "little blue book" about how a young Lee Scoresby became friends with the armored bear, Iorek Byrnison. This book contained some extra resources as well as a small board game called Peril of the Pole. Another more sizable book is in the works called the Book of Dust and Pullman has put forth the idea of a "little green book" for Will.
