Search

I've put it back in, but that's as small as the text-box will go, so I'll have to fit it somewhere else later.

-- Will

Is the search box extending halfway across the screen for anyone else? It makes it impossible to add pages because it wont allow me to click links in the wiki above and below for a distance. --Stelmaria 00:43, 1 August 2006 (CDT)

OK, I've been messing with it and found that there's no problem with the links, you can tab through and hit enter, pain in the butt though. --Stelmaria 01:04, 1 August 2006 (CDT)

Sorry, I'd not noticed the last thing I did before bed made IE not like it. All fixed now, bit smaller and with no header, but default text. -- Will

I just took a look at the main page and the search bar still extends across the screen. That's really weird. --Stelmaria 15:42, 2 August 2006 (CDT)

For me in IE it sort of disappears behind the veritcal dividing line. Is it only the main page it stretches out for you? That's probably becuase you've been there before; clear out all your saved temporary files and stuff. -- Will

I can't see a search box at all. Where is it? 128.40.222.172 12:23, 22 March 2007 (EDT)

We just went through a skin change. I suppose it'll be back sometime.--Stelmaria 15:34, 24 March 2007 (EDT)

'Book'

All the references in the static encyclopedia to Book I and Book II and stuff are just because it was an awful lot quicker for Merlyn to type. Can we make sure to type them out as their proper book titles in the wiki please? It looks nicer and Google will love us more. -- Will

Oh, I was doing it becuase one of the mods told me to do that before the crash. I assumed we were doing it because of the whole NL-TGC title difference. --Stelmaria 15:29, 2 August 2006 (CDT)

Hm, I might have said that.. At any rate, we're going for American now, so that's a moot point. -- Will

yay toolbar

#toolbar { display: none; }

Take that, most heinous toolbar non-showne 2000 ss. That should make editing totally easier. --Will 16:13, 2 August 2006 (CDT)

Citations

Is there some sort of standard for making citations for quotes from the books? I don't know if I'm doing it right. EXAMPLE: (Pg. ##, TGC/TSK/TAS, Knopf)

So far I've been going Philip Pullman, The Golden Compass (Knopf ##). I'm citing Knopf as the publisher only to distinguish it as the edition for the page numbers... Somewhere back Will said he wasn't sure whether we should include page number and instead just cite chapter numbers. I've just been using whatever's included in the static encyclopaedia. --jessia 20:41, 2 August 2006 (CDT)

Yeah, I've sort of been doing that, I just take whatever info is given and put it in that format. OK. --Stelmaria 20:59, 2 August 2006 (CDT)

I was thinking we should probably not bother with the Philip Pullman bit. I'd hope it was pretty obvious to anyone on here.. Just makes it more cluttered. Don't bother going back and taking that out of all of them though, too boring. Use chapters definitely. I want to look up how to use bots; a simple one to go through afterwards and make all those chapters links to the right one. So for now, stick with The Booked Book, Chapter #. If the encyclopaedia only has a page number, put that in and I guess we can look the chapter up later. --Will 21:05, 3 August 2006 (CDT)

We should keep the "Pullman" on citations outside HDM though... like those for interviews and articles in the Guardian and stuff. Ummm... should we link the chapter number to the chapter title page? --jessia 22:14, 3 August 2006 (CDT)

Icons

Do we have the icons for Will's World and Cittagazze for the character template? I couldn't find one in the file list. --Stelmaria 18:17, 18 August 2006 (CDT)

Suggestion

I think you should add the line

There are [[Special:Statistics|{{NUMBEROFARTICLES}}]] pages in the BTTS encyclopedia.

In you main page, so new visitors will see how many pages there are in the encyclopedia:

"

There are 657 pages in the BTTS encyclopedia.

" --Udi1 08:58, 20 August 2006 (CDT)

Yeah, that's a cool idea. How about we take it further and add something on the bottom like:

Currently, the wiki has 657 articles, #### page edits, and #### registered users.

Where the #### symbols are you would use the template, only I can't figure out how to make that work. Maybe it could be put in a little statistics box. --Stelmaria 05:36, 21 August 2006 (CDT)
